I. Prompts for motivation
What was the last movie you watched recently that made you cry? Which moments of the story or character resonated with you the most?
Who in your life do you deeply trust that inspires you to let others see you? Does vulnerability help you feel more connected with others?
II. Thoughts for intention
Vulnerability helps us stay honest with ourselves and understand how to work with our emotions rather than push them away. This step gives us clarity before getting ready to take the kind of actions that help us move through our difficulties in a more proactive and responsible way.
Sharing our vulnerability with those we trust allows us to cultivate deeper intimacy with our loved ones as well as a deeper sense of belonging. By allowing others to hear the genuine truth of our experiences, we are also fostering acceptance towards others, ourselves, and life itself.
III. Ideas for preparation
We practice vulnerability when we show up as our most authentic selves in every situation. This also helps others refrain from pleasing and looking for their self-worth outside of themselves. Instead, letting down our walls encourages empathy, honesty, and emotional well-being.
Vulnerability is a sign of the brave. It requires more courage, more presence, and more resilience to embrace who we truly are and what we stand for on an ongoing basis. We do this by aligning our actions with our values whenever we need a sense of direction while continuing to lean on them as we evolve and mature.
IV. Quotes for inspiration
“It is the weak who are cruel. Gentleness can only be expected from the strong.”
― Stephen R. Covey, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People: Powerful Lessons in Personal Change
“It’s very hard to have ideas. It’s very hard to put yourself out there, it’s very hard to be vulnerable, but those people who do that are the dreamers, the thinkers and the creators. They are the magic people of the world.”
― Amy Poehler, Yes Please
