Hi, I’m Retzel.
I’m a paradoxical mix between an excited child and an old soul with a love for new experiences, cozy fireplaces, and the wisdom passed down by writers from all walks of life. It’s nice to meet you.
Dear Reader,
Welcome to Cherish & Jots—a space I created to connect, reflect, and share about the beautiful mess of being human. I’m here to explore the truths, troubles, and triumphs that come with learning how to live your best life yet. But I must give fair warning—I have way more questions than I have answers. Hopefully, we can unpack what it all means together.
To be honest, I’m here less as a guide and more as a fellow traveler. I’m here to connect the dots, to ask the big life questions. Cherish is where I hold the beauty of everyday moments—through photos, memories, and little adventures. Jots is where I share all of my thoughts, ideas, and questions through the words that I’ve chosen.
Through words, I hope to explore the power of perspective—the kind that helps us choose with intention, embrace change, and find peace even in uncertainty. Sometimes, zooming out helps. Sometimes, going inward does. Either way, we grow by noticing—and by sharing what we find with others along the way.
Thankfully, we’re not the first to ask these big questions like: Why am I here? What’s the point? What is my purpose? Generations before us have wondered the same. They were the writers, the artists, the scientists, the philosophers, and countless others; the ones who paved the way with their wonder and curiosity, and I’m here to do the same.
So, thank you for being here. However you found this space, I’m grateful you did. Let’s keep asking, wondering, and writing it all down—together.

Where to Start?
I write about many things, but if there’s one theme that ties them all together, it’s the importance of self-direction. In a world full of distractions designed to pull us away from ourselves, protecting our mindset and perspective feels more essential than ever.
What we give our attention to shapes us. Our daily choices reflect the kind of life we’re creating—some move us off course, while others bring us closer to who we want to be. It’s the difference between drifting through life on autopilot and waking up with purpose.
Through this blog, I share ideas that explore the latter: the habits, mindsets, and moments that fuel creativity, growth, well-being, and meaning. If you’re not sure where to begin, here are a few posts to get you started:
