I. Prompts for motivation
What is something that you find worth doing regardless of the outcome? Is your love louder than your fear?
In what ways do you practice courage and determination to achieve your goals? Can you think of a person in your life or a character you love who does so in an admirable way?
II. Thoughts for intention
Acting courageously involves mastering our emotions. In order to deal with the truth of a mistake or difficult circumstance, we can find a way to handle them by first accepting the situation. This allows us to understand the tension we’re navigating and get back up to try again.
Courage is what gives us the strength to never give up. It is our courage that can be transformed into determination. At our lowest moments, in which we are most tempted to quit in defeat, it is this exact practice that enables us to keep going and take the next step.
III. Ideas for preparation
We can make small reminders to ourselves of what courage means with clear examples that we can use the next time a particular obstacle comes up again. This prepares us by setting our minds in a proactive way to improve in this area, which helps us get more creative, imaginative, and persistent in anything that comes our way.
There is no problem that we cannot overcome when we choose to face it completely. It is difficult to find anyone in this world who has made a place for themselves without constant struggles or setbacks involved in their journey towards achieving their goals.
IV. Quotes for inspiration
“I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage is a man with a gun in his hand. It’s when you know you’re licked before you begin, but you begin anyway and see it through no matter what.”
― Harper Lee, To Kill a Mockingbird
“There is a stubbornness about me that never can bear to be frightened at the will of others. My courage always rises at every attempt to intimidate me.”
― Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice
