I. Prompts for motivation

How do you stay on top of your priorities? How often do you say no to requests or invitations to stay on top of your most essential responsibilities?

Are there any steps you can take that will help you restructure your routines and optimize your overall sense of control and performance? What habits or changes can you implement to add more effectiveness and meaning to your daily life?

II. Thoughts for intention

We need essentialism because it helps us navigate the demands of life and avoid any potential feelings of overwhelm and burnout. In doing so, we are activating our sense of agency by taking charge of every aspect of our lives, big or small. In managing our time, we are also aligning our actions with our intention, which is to prevent any outside noise from interfering with our more important priorities.

There’s no denying the overabundance of distractions and overload of information in our digital age. This is why protecting our energy and well-being has never been more essential to our health. Without a helpful structure to lean on for our daily goals and needs, the challenges of mental clutter caused by disruptions and overconsumption can be much harder to overcome. Thankfully, what we do have power over is what we give our attention to, which we can control better when we understand our vision and long-term goals.

III. Ideas for preparation

By eliminating the non-essential, we are also learning how to act with assertiveness, responsibility, and mindfulness, which provides a more disciplined and simpler way of living. Rather than overcommitting, we can practice getting more comfortable in respectfully saying no more often. This helps us stick to our values as well as our biggest priorities and actively remove obstacles that keep us spending more time on the things that really matter.

We can practice essentialism by building routines and systems. This allows us to integrate all our behaviors, choices, and passions with the kind of identity we’re aiming to cultivate in our journey of personal growth. By prioritizing fewer, more meaningful activities, we can strive to do them in the highest quality possible. Because with everything that we have to deal with daily, it is up to us to protect our clarity and purpose towards the kind of personal or professional life we are striving for.
